VIRTUEBROADCASTING SELECTS RELIACAST'S AUDIENCE MANAGER SOFTWARE TO ENHANCE STREAMING SERVICES

Europe's leading Internet broadcaster will use Reliacast ticketing and audience reporting technology to increase ROI for content providers.

LONDON & HERNDON, VA -- June 20, 2001 - Reliacast, Inc., a pioneer in audience management solutions for digital content, and virtuebroadcasting Ltd., a leader in Internet broadcasting and streamed content distribution, announced today that virtuebroadcasting has selected Reliacast's Audience Manager* software as a component in delivering its streaming services offering to entertainment, media and corporate customers.

virtuebroadcasting will employ Audience Manager to track and manage admission to live and on-demand streamed events, gather detailed demographic information about end user participants and monitor the quality of their experience. virtuebroadcasting is Europe's most experienced and advanced broadband streaming provider for both media and corporate communication solutions. The company has streamed many high profile Internet broadcasts including Madonna's concert from The Brixton Academy in London and Paul McCartney at The Cavern in Liverpool. virtuebroadcasting was recently chosen by Carlton Interactive to deliver the live and on-demand streaming for ITV's groundbreaking "Survivor" show and has a large pool of major content suppliers including EMI Group, Granada Media, and News International.

"In order for streaming media to be economically viable for webcasters and content providers, they need to control who gains access to their content, know precisely who watches and understand how viewers react to specific content," said Tom Klaff, president and CEO of Reliacast. "Our technology will enable virtuebroadcasting to provide streaming services to their customers that deliver added value and increased ROI through audience measurement and management."

"We are committed to providing our customers, the broadband content providers, with the ability to supply their subscribers with the optimum online viewing experience," said Paul Hodgins, CEO of virtuebroadcasting. "Naturally, providers wish to maximize their return on investment through content protection, event revenue optimization, and accessible real-time, statistical profiles of event audiences. We chose Reliacast's audience management software to provide our customers with this enhanced streaming service and to strengthen our online ticketing offer."

Reliacast's Audience Manager puts four powerful components to work for broadband streaming providers like virtuebroadcasting: the Reliaserver*, Reliacast Net Agents*, the Virtual Turnstile* and the R-Ticket*. The Reliaserver manages all Reliacast events held on the network, displays viewer and listener data, and reports on event management data associated with audience behavior and demographics. Reliacast Net Agents are distributed throughout the network and act as a conduit between the Reliaserver and the audience, supporting multiple Virtual Turnstiles in authentication, measurement, and control of a Reliacast event. The Virtual Turnstile software component and the R-Ticket are required by the viewer or listener to access a program or event. The Virtual Turnstile gathers usage, event, and audience data and then forwards it to the Reliacast Net Agent. These components can be seamlessly delivered to the user as part of event registration, and the data can be integrated into customer management and billing systems.

Audience Manager is being showcased this week at Streaming Media West in Long Beach, California in Booth #101.
