4's BANZAI ENLISTS VIRTUE BROADCASTING TO KEEP GAMBLING MARTIAL ART
ALIVE ONLINE
London, 16 July 2001:
VIRTUE Broadcasting Ltd, Europe's leading Internet broadcaster,
today announced that it has been chosen by RDF Media to deliver
the on demand streaming for C4's cult Japanese gambling show Banzai.
VIRTUE Broadcasting will be responsible for streaming the winning
gamble in the revered Banzai Hall of Fame, (http://www.banzaitv.com/forum/halloffame.asp).
Each week visitors to the Banzai site vote for the best gamble from
the past show, the winning gamble enters the hall of fame from where
it is continuously streamed.
Commenting on the agreement, Nick English President of Media, VIRTUE
Broadcasting said: "We are delighted to be working with one
of the most widely talked about TV shows of the year. An interactive
offering for a cult show like Banzai is a necessity because it provides
the audience the means of experiencing the Banzai ethos outside
the confines of the terrestrial programming schedule."
Andy Bell, Head of New Media of RDF Media commented: "VIRTUE
Broadcasting are the most technologically advanced and indeed friendliest
providers of internet broadcasting services in Europe which is why
they are providing the streaming for one of our only projects this
year. We are very excited about giving viewers the opportunity to
keep this gambling martial art alive."
"As the next stage of our community outreach programme, we
are hoping to take the Banzai roadshow to London's primary schools.
The one path to gambling excellence stems from youthful dedication."

RDF Media are producing a second series of Banzai due for screening
at the end of this year and are also making a version to be broadcast
in the USA on USA Network. The US version of Banzai is being reversioned
with American B- and C- list celebs to take the place of John McCririck,
Peter Purves, Anna from Big Brother and 80's pop sensation Go West.
Gary Monaghan, Banzai's creator, said "We are still trying
to get hold of David Hasselhoff. That would be a dream come true."
