Arts choose Virtue Broadcasting plc to provide the technical
infrastructure for E-learning programmes via their website
tuesday 20th august 2002
Virtue Broadcasting plc ("LSE: TDO"), one of Europe's leading
digital media specialists for secure online broadcast
and distribution, and Video Arts, the pre-eminent provider
of e-learning and video based training programmes, today
announce an agreement that will see Video Arts utilise
Virtue Broadcasting's Content Management System (CMS) to
manage, host, secure and distribute training videos
and e-learning from their extensive library via the
Internet.
Video Arts currently have e-learning programmes which
can be tailored to specific client needs and training
materials for these programmes are currently distributed
via CD-Rom, corporate intranets and other company networks,
for access at any time of the day, 7 days a week. This
agreement will enable Video Arts to offer their customer
access to these programmes via the Video Arts Learning
Portal.
Virtue Broadcasting's Content Management System (CMS) will
provide the technology backbone to Video Arts' e-learning
offering, enabling them to manage and syndicate the
content on to their clients. Virtue Broadcasting's Content
Management System (CMS) is accessed via a desktop client
or web interface and is easily used by non-technical
staff. The digitised videos are uploaded onto the system
and protected with Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology.
The DRM allows Video Arts to protect the copyright
of their training videos by setting rules that will
determine whether the user is able to stream or download
the videos, when the videos can be viewed and an expiration
date for the videos, if applicable.
Video Arts will be able to upload the digitised video
clips onto the system, which will automatically generate
hyperlinks that can be used on their website or syndicated
to clients' intranets. The CMS also provides the ability
for real time reporting to track the frequency the videos
have been accessed on all the sites that the content
has been syndicated to.
'The implementation of CMS is the start of a strategic
initiative that will see Video Arts moving more of its
operations into the digital space,' says Jeet Khaira,
Chief Executive Officer, Video Arts. 'Virtue Broadcasting
were the natural choice as they have an excellent track
record with secure distribution for media and corporate
companies. We are very impressed with Virtue Broadcasting's
Content Management System as a solution that manages
our assets as efficiently and effectively as possible.'
'Virtue Broadcasting has made significant progress in the
corporate area, but training and e-learning is an exciting
new area,' says Neil Ferris, Chief Executive Officer
of Tornado Group PLC. 'We are pleased to be working
with Video Arts, who are established leaders in training
media, at the start of a long term project which will
see exciting digital opportunities introduced to the
business.'
