The Paul Nicholls-trained five-year-old was settled in behind early, but moved smoothly through in the inside to join the leaders at the third last, travelling strongly. He pricked his ears approchaing the second last, showing signs of greeness at being in front. However, he jumped the last two well and, although he began to idle up the run in, it never looked as if he would be caught, despite the late flourish of the eventual runner-up. Harvis stuck on for third, seven lengths further back.
